Public opinion is like the wind... it blows in different directions depending on conditions.
The United States is a republic, not a democracy... It is ruled by laws established and not opinions of the day.
Crossing at a border station is the law to protect the citizens of the United States. It doesn't matter if an opinion poll says people should just
cross freely wherever they want. If checking who and what comes into the United Staes is no longer a good thing, then change the law.
The president is doing what seems to be the best way to stop lawbreakers. Do you have a better way? Do you think it doesn't matter who or what enters
the United States at any place they want?
Laws of the republic protect the individual. Opinions in a democracy give in to the mood of the moment. |
