A Roman marker dating to c100 BC in my family’s town in Spain. To the north is
Pamploma, and the Pyrenees border with France. Charlemagne’s Knight, Roland, fought and died
fighting a Basque & Muslim army in 778 AD in Roncesvalles Pass.

I love the Spanish Pyrenees. I'm always amused by the stink-eye i get from the basques when using my Mexican Spanish. I'll be checking out the French Pyrenees in September.

My Dad spoke strict Castilian Spanish with a pronounced lisp. I would make fun of him until I heard it spoken in central Spain...same lisp.

If you haven’t visit Ronda! It’s worth the drive!
