We took a trip to BCS for a week to go fishing and relax with the family. Small little fishing area on the Sea of Cortez. Took my family out fishing
with Grandpa (13, 11, 4, and 3 year olds). LOTS of fish biting. We caught 6 yellowtail (3 of them over 30 lbs), a couple of bonita, and a couple of
over non-keeper other fish that we released. We actually hooked up on about 7 or 8 more yellowtail, but being in the rocks, or too light of line, we
lost them! It was SO cool to see the kiddos work and get the fish in. Our 11 and 13 year old girls are HOOKED (pun intended), and can't wait to go
back out.
Road conditions:
Crossed at Mexicali West. All the way down MEX-5 to MEX-1 was great. A few landslide rocks on MEX-5 south of Cocos... but nothing to worry about.
Once on MEX-1, great travels. South of Punta Prieta, towards Nuevo Rosarito had some potholes, but nothing terrible.
Road toward El Arco is great. High speed. Past El Arco is fine. Nothing to worry about. One LONG sandy wash that 4WD is probably recommended for...
but we cruised. Aired down and happy.
Return Trip: Stayed at Chenowth Legacy Lodge in Percebu. Great room, decent food. Super secure. Had breakfast at Jenny's just north. Great
hospitality from John and Jenny. Good Hueveos Rancheros (ask for the non-gringo salsa), and plenty of options for the kiddos (eggs, pancakes, etc).
Border crossing: Coming back north, we went to Mexicali East - Since there is a Ready Lane there (my youngest is waiting for 6+ months on his SENTRI
application). Don't try to come in from the East. They make you drive a mile or so towards the west, make a U-turn, and come back in towards the
east. Even with that, Ready Lane was just under an hour on a Friday at noon.

Putting food on the table is your job! Making those kids go out and catch their own fish is child abuse, and I am sure that they
will remember that you did this for the rest of their lives!
